Grace Dillingham and Adam Swartzendruber took my course, Green Chemical and Energy Technology, the capstone course of the Energy and Environment focus area in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Their poster was on the new generation of small modular nuclear reactors. They were invited to present at the Iowa City Climate Action Commission in October of 2025. They shared their findings on the TerraPower Natrium reactor.
The course has evolved over the years to reflect more and more content on decarbonization of power, materials, and chemicals sectors.
Thanks to Sarah Gardner on the Iowa City staff for the project suggestion, and the continued support of our students and our program.
