The Carmichael Symposium at the University of Iowa, part of the 100-year celebration of the department's founding, was excellent. Students and collaborators of Greg's from around the world returned to Iowa City and discussed his accomplishments.

Professor Jennifer Fiegel and I co-authored a presentation on the teaching assistant training we do in Chemical Engineering at the University of Iowa -- focusing on skills development, role playing as a way of training, and developing rapport with students.

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024 the Iowa Institute for Public Health Practice, Research and Policy held a webinar on wildfire smoke in Iowa. We have posted a recording of the event here.

I will be joining other chapter authors of Tending Iowa's Land by Connie Mutel, to hold a Senior College class that will explore some of the themes in the book: thriving rural communities, growing food, protecting soil, resiliency to climate change, reestablishing water quality in Iowa.
